The following are very different things I found in the Woman's World December 5, 2016 issue...
: Leiann Lynn Rose Spontaneo
On page 14, the magazine goes on to say to end disruptive awakenings by having a spaghetti dinner! A low-fat dinner with say pasta with marinara sauce invites a deeper sleep.
Then, drink cocoa as it has compounds that invite Zzzzs at night by revving brain areas responsible for sleep.
Page 15 goes on to say that canned corn can make you feel sunnier. With the winter blahs---the blues--daytime fatigue---difficulty falling and staying asleep? You may be short on the "happy" hormone serotonin because of less sunlight. Corn is rich in ferulic acid, which studies show raises serotonin. Canned corn has 550% more than fresh corn.
Further, take vitamin D. A deficiency worsens sleep-thwarting disorders, such as body aches, heavy snoring, sleep apnea and restless legs.
Wake up refreshed by having lunch with friends and family. During winter monthes, we tend to be alone a lot which could be causing sleep problems. Spending moments with loved ones reduces stress and worry and ushers in deeper sleep.
Another super idea in this issue is on page 26...it states to spread Christmas cheer with a bake sale! First, recruit lots of elves. Next, go cookie wild! This is a treat on everyone's mind this time of year! Create favorites your elves would like to share. Even create "cookie kits" by layering ingredients in a pretty jar with a recipe card. Further, serve drinks like apple cider and hot cocoa for a $1.00 each cup. Do even more good by turning your bake sale into a Christmas charity drive where people can pay for their goodies with cash or a toy, coat or canned good.
Cannot afford an extravagant meal for Christmas? Pages 28 and 29 give you a glimpse of 5 different mac and cheese recipes..."favorite", "5-cheese", "Mediterranean", "with basil" and "ranch house". Want even more? go to : Cheese Recipes
Finally, on page 34, there is a tip on how to say good-bye to thin and brittle hair with a homemade Amla-Coconut deep conditioner. All it takes is 1 cup of coconut oil and 1/4 cup amla powder (from $4.00 on Amazon.com). Massage into clean and dry hair. Leave on 20 minutes. Shampoo and condition as usual. Seriously dry hair? Leave on overnight then wash out in the morning.
I think this issue was extremely good and worth the amount of money (if you cannot loan it from your local library). To purchase, send check or money order ($2.50 U.S. copy. $5.50 per Canadian/foreign copy) to Woman's World, Back Issue Department, 270 Sylvan Avenue, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, United States, 07632.
