So I've gone vegan recently, and today I checked out my local health shop for vegan alternatives.
I had heard of vegan cheese before, but had never seen any, looked for any, bought any let alone tried any.
So I thought I'd try this one. Reasonably priced, about $8.
Brought it home and wanted to see if it melted like normal cheese.
The first thing I tried to make was vegemite, garlic and cheese on toast.
Put it in the grill, went soft but not quite melted.
The taste was nice, but very different to what I was use to.
It's made from potato starch and coconut oil. It's kind of creamy and has a unique flavour. Overall very nice and a great substitute for cows cheese.
