Do you ever want a snack but not empty calories? I thought I'd share with you what I like to snack on when the craving hits...whether in-between meals or for an evening snack.
If you are seriously watching your weight, Slim-Fast shakes are the way to go...whether you want vanilla, chocolate or strawberry...filling with no guilt. Simply mix with skim fat free milk.
Then, often, I buy either salami or pepperoni, from the local deli. Have it with a good Italian bread. One lunch meat sandwich is not going to hurt you as-long-as you don't have the entire loaf at once!
Cold salads are good to have pre-made...whether tuna salad on a bed of lettuce, chicken salad, potato salad, pasta salad, taco salad or a garden salad. I like to have them prepared the night before. Then, the next day, just whip the salad right out of the fridge. Many people have salad jars made up and keep handy in the fridge. No grabbing for a bunch of junk food.
In the case of junk food, if no alternative, maybe have a handful of popcorn or potato chips...just not the whole bag.
Many people say to drink water, water and more water. I disagree. I like to mix things up a little bit. Maybe iced coffee, iced tea, flavored water enhancer, fresh fruit to infuse water, seltzer water, sparkling water, along with a little diet soda every-so-often. Wine is good for the heart.
